About US
Founded in 2022, Lion City Inclusive Chess (LCIC) is dedicated to building a vibrant and inclusive chess community in Singapore. What started as a casual meetup has grown into a dynamic platform that regularly organises chess events and tournaments. At our heart, we have a bold aspiration to create an inclusive platform for chess and to be the best place for chess.
LCIC collaborated with forward-thinking organisations, like: Social Collider, *SCAPE, JTC and People Association, to successfully host multiple inclusive chess tournaments. In November 2023, one of our major milestones was the successful organisation of a notable Blitz Chess Tournament aboard the Genting Dream Cruise. It was a surreal and powerful moment, proving accessibility could travel anywhere.
Since March 2023, LCIC started a meaningful collaboration with Fengshan Community Club (FSCC). We hold weekly Friday evening chess gatherings in a warm and welcoming environment, allowing players of all backgrounds to enjoy and connect over chess. we believe chess is more than just a game. It’s a universal language that can unite a welcoming and inclusive chess community where anyone — regardless of age, race, disability and experience level can belong.
Beyond chess, LCIC strives to make meaningful impact on social inclusion. With the support from Temasek Foundation’s OSCAR Grant, LCIC organised three editions of “Human Library and Inclusive Games” events. The event had more than 100 participants — with approximately 40% coming from underserved communities – person with disabilities, seniors and children.
